Important Blood Drive For Local Community Member

There will be a very important and worthwhile blood/donor drive taking place on July 20th.

Bob Biernacki is a member of our Huntington Community along with his wife Jodi and their 3 children.  Bob spent many years coaching boys and girls lacrosse.  He and his wife are active supporters of the Huntington Booster Club.  Now Bob needs your help.

Bob was diagnosed with diabetes 22 years ago which has led to his current kidney failure.  Bob needs a kidney transplant.  We are asking for your support at a blood/donor drive in Bob’s honor.

The blood/donor drive is scheduled for Sunday, July 20th from 10-3 pm at the Halesite Firehouse, run by the Red Cross.

Ideally we would like to find an exact match for Bob.  However, the idea we would like to get across is that anyone can help, even if we don’t find an exact match.  The way Mt. Sinai runs their swap program, if someone donates a kidney in Bob’s name he will receive a kidney transplant much faster than he would waiting on the NY state list.  The state list has a 4-6 year wait.  The swap program takes about a year.  This is crucial since dialysis takes a toll on the body.   (He suffered a stroke last May.)

If you have any questions about donating you can call the Donor Coordination Office at Mt. Sinai: 212-659-8024.

Bob’s family and friends thank you for your support!
