Carefree Day On Long Island
Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci recently voiced his proud support of Long Island’s 2nd Annual Carfree Day on September 22, 2014. A global event, Carfree Day encourages people to use alternative transportation sources, such as transit and biking, to help build awareness, reduce traffic, conserve energy, and reduce CO2 emissions.
“Carfree Day is about taking action to positively impact our environment in a small way,” said Lupinacci. “One day of Long Islanders choosing not to drive can drastically lower harmful CO2 emissions, an issue we need to be increasingly aware of. I am challenging all Long Islanders to participate and take the pledge in making September 22 a Carfree day.”
Carfree Day will be led by Transit Solutions and 511NYRideshare, along with a committee of Long Island leaders, to help promote alternative modes of transportation. To participate, take the pledge by filling out a form at the Carfree Day LI website, www.carfreedayli.com.
