Harborfields Graduation 2013 9Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci is announcing this year’s various Italian-American scholarships being offered to current or future college students. The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators revealed allotments of $2,500 per athletic or academic scholarship.

“As an educator, I’ve always been a strong advocate for students to take advantage of the numerous scholarships our communities offer. The Italian-American scholarship is a great way to provide support for students who need financial relief as college tuitions increase,” Lupinacci.

Students who earned a grade point average of 85 or above may apply for the scholarships. They must be involved in organized sports or stay active in their community and participate in extracurricular activities. Two will be awarded for academic achievements and two will be awarded for athletic endeavors. Applications are due by April 27.

“I’m happy to spread the word to local school districts of the great scholarships the of Italian-American State Legislators offer,” said Lupinacci. “It’s always nice to know we have young, ambitious students who are active in their communities and maintain stellar grade point averages are eager to expand their knowledge by earning a college degree.”

Please send all applications to the Legislative Office Building, Room 937, Albany, New York, 12248. Anyone with questions regarding the scholarships or application process should contact Lupinacci at lupinaccic@assembly.state.ny.us or by phone at 631-271-8025.
