Dix Hills Fire Department Battles Blazing House Fire

Dix Hills House FireThe Dix Hills Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire and explosion on Seaman Neck Road and Hastings Street at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Firefighters were confronted with a heavy fire condition from the two-story home. Shortly after arrival, a partial collapse occurred to the rear of the structure.

Under the command of Chief Robert Fling and operations by Third Assistant Chief Joe Williamson, about 70 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with nine trucks, three ambulances, rehab unit and paramedic responder. Mutual aid was requested to the scene from the Deer Park, Melville, and Wyandanch fire departments, with standby coverage from the Greenlawn Fire Department, Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. Firefighters were on the scene battling the blaze and overhauling the debris for close to three hours.

No injuries were reported. The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal are investigating. This is the seventh working house fire that the Dix Hills Fire Department has responded to this year, with the last one occurring on March 23, 2015.
