Six Harborfields High School students were selected as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students include Greta K. Browne, Jacob I. Chalif, Ishaan Lohia, Casandra M. Moisanu, Mia Santomauro and 2015 early graduate Connor D. Stewart.

Those chosen will compete for approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships totaling approximately $33 million being offered next spring. To enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, students completed the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last October. Their high scores placed them among the 16,000 semifinalists.

The program honors students who show exceptional academic ability and the potential for strong success in college. They have been chosen out of approximately 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools and will continue to compete to become finalists.

This is the highest number of semifinalists from Harborfields High School since 2002.

“We are extremely proud,” said Principal Timothy Russo. “These students are among the very best and brightest in the nation and they have achieved this recognition due to their hard work and extraordinary commitment to academics.”
