Dix Hills Fire Department Rescues Driver from Trees in Northern State Crash

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash on the Northern State Parkway, eastbound between the Deer Park Avenue and Commack Road exits, just after 3 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Dix Hills firefighters used heavy rescue extrication tools to remove the driver who was trapped after the car struck a tree. Firefighters removed the roof, doors, and pushed back the dashboard to free the driver.

The man was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad in stable condition. Under the command of Chief Tom Napolitano and Assistant Chiefs Alan Berkowitz and Brett Tepe, 30 firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded with three heavy rescue trucks, an ambulance, paramedic and first responder units.
