Fire at Apex Rehab Center
The Huntington Manor Fire Department responded to a fire at the Apex Rehabilitation Center on Birchwood Drive in South Huntington on Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017 at about 7 a.m. The fire occurred in the attic on one of the facility’s buildings, and was quickly extinguished by firefighters. Huntington Manor firefighters were assisted by the Dix Hills and Melville fire departments, while the Huntington and Greenlawn fire departments provided standby coverage. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad was on the scene for EMS support. About 45 firefighters were on the scene with seven trucks, under the direction of Chief Mike DePasquale, and Assistant Chiefs Jon Hoffmann, Chuck Brady and Jim Glidden. There were no injuries reported, and the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal is investigating.
