Huntington Young Republicans Support Local Veterans!

The Huntington Young Republicans hosted their Second Annual Veterans Food Drive on Saturday, July 8, 2017 throughout the Township of Huntington to benefit the Northport VA Medical Center.

Over a dozen members of the group spent the day at four supermarkets in Huntington soliciting donations from patrons. The Best Market of East Northport, the Best Market of Huntington Station, the King Kullen of Huntington Station, and the Wild by Nature of Huntington all opened their doors to allow the Huntington Young Republicans to solicit donations at their establishments. After a full day of engaging residents and receiving tremendous support, the group collected a substantial amount of food valued at a few thousand dollars. The volunteers finished the day by spending some time with local veterans and donating all the food collected to the Northport VA Medical Center United Beacons House.

Huntington Young Republicans President Sam Bifulco explained, “It is paramount that we support our veterans in any way we can. Today, I am extremely proud of the Huntington Young Republicans as we collected thousands of dollars’ worth of food which was donated to the Northport VA.” Todd Goodman, Public Affairs Officer at the Northport VA stated, “the Northport VA Medical Center appreciates the selfless service and dedication to Veterans of the Huntington Young Republicans for donating their time and effort. This generous donation was used to fill the food pantry at the United Veterans Beacon House on the grounds of Northport VAMC. This is the second year that Huntington Young Republicans have made such a donation and we thank them so much for doing so.” Sam Bifulco finished by saying, “this is our Country, this is our Town, and these are our Vets. It is important that as millennials we continue to show our appreciation of the sacrifice our servicemen and women have made. The best way to show that appreciation is through action and service of our own, and that is exactly what we did here today.”
