The Northport Fire Department responded to a blaze in the Pool House at the Harbour Point at Northport condominium development on Saturday afternoon, July 29, 2017 at about 12:40 p.m. The structure was fully involved in fire upon the arrival of Northport firefighters, who quickly attacked the blaze and stopped it from spreading to the attached Clubhouse. Nearly 50 firefighters operated at scene with four engines and two ambulances. An additional engine responded from the East Northport Fire Department, and the Centerport Fire Department provided a Rapid Intervention Team. The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes and units were under the command of Chief Brad Wine, supported by Assistant Chiefs John Jacobsen and Dennis Sheridan. The fire appears to be accidental in origin and is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad, Northport Police and Town of Huntington Fire Marshal. Suffolk County Fire-Rescue Coordinators also provided assistance. The fire damage was contained to the Pool House with minor extension to the Clubhouse which sustained some smoke and water damage. There were no injuries reported.
