School Bus and Car Collide in Melville
The Melville Fire Department responded to a crash involving a school bus and a car on New York Avenue near Rainer Street on Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017, at about 8:53 a.m. There were 18 children aboard the bus on their way to the Signal Hill Elementary School in Dix Hills. There were no reported injuries, and the students were transferred to another Half Hollow Hills School District bus. The bus driver declined medical assistance, and two children were released to their parents. Three Melville Fire Department Rescue Squad ambulances, an engine, paramedic unit and Fire Police were dispatched and under the direction of Assistant Chief David Kaplan.
