County Executive Bellone and Police Commissioner Sini To Swear In New Class of Police Recruits
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini did swear in the newest class of police recruits on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 as they begin their six-month training at the Suffolk County Police Academy.
The class includes 81 Suffolk County Police Department recruits, as well as 11 recruits from associated and outside agencies. Twenty-two of the Suffolk County Police Department recruits come to the department from the NYPD and 13 boast previous military experience.
Among the 81 recruits being sworn in is Taylor Pfeifer, daughter of deceased, retired, FDNY member Raymond Pfeifer. Raymond was known for his tireless efforts to obtain health benefits for 9/11 first responders until he passed away earlier this year due to complications of cancers he contracted while searching for victims in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on World Trade Center.
