OCEAN STATE JOB LOT OPENS 11th NEW YORK STORE IN EAST NORTHPORT, LONG ISLAND

Grand opening celebration planned for November 18, 2017

Ocean State Job Lot, a leading closeout retailer headquartered in Rhode Island with stores throughout New England, New Jersey and New York, announces the grand opening of its East Northport store, located at 3083 Jericho Turnpike (a former Bob’s Store) on Long Island. This 28,000 sq. ft. location is Ocean State Job Lot’s 11th in The Empire State, and 129th in the region. The store’s arrival brings approximately 35-40 new jobs to the area and restores vibrancy to the retail location.

A daylong Grand Opening Celebration is planned for Saturday, November 18, 2017 8:00 a.m. – 1:00p.m. Festivities continue throughout the morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m., to be attended by local officials and business leaders, including Assemblyman Andrew Raia, Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, Deputy Town Supervisor Patricia DelCol, Ocean State Job Lot executives, and Store Manager Salvatore Farruggia.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, reflecting its tradition of giving back to the local community, Job Lot will also contribute a pallet of food to the local food pantry Trinity Episcopal Church Food Pantry (aka Northport Food Pantry), along with $500 to the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter/Give a Dog a Dream Foundation through “Close to the Heart,” an initiative of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. A pallet of pet supplies will be shared by VetDogs and the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter.   

At the event, Job Lot will be giving away a variety of food samples, while various community organizations and businesses will be on hand to display information and answer questions, including the Give a Dog a Dream Foundation, the Town of Huntington Senior Center, America’s VetDogs, the Ohman School of Ballet, and the UFC Gym Commack, which will provide a demonstration, and the Smithtown Performing Arts Center will present a singing performance.

Radio station WALK 97.5 will host a remote appearance at the store from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a radio personality who will conduct contests and prize giveaways.

In addition, shoppers can enter a drawing to win a $200 in-store shopping spree.

The town has been very welcoming and helpful working with us during the store’s remodeling phase,” said David Sarlitto, executive director of Ocean State Job Lot and Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. “We’re glad to support the local economy with new jobs and by restoring a storefront that was previously vacant. We are also deeply committed to demonstrating philanthropic leadership in the communities Job Lot serves, and we are already expanding that legacy in this area with donations to local organizations.”

Store hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
