Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini and Chief of Department Stuart K. Cameron express their sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the horrific bombing and shooting attack that occurred at the al-Rawda mosque in the town of Bir al-Abed in northern Sinai in Egypt.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who were harmed by this evil act which occurred while the members of this mosque were peacefully praying.  The Suffolk County Police Department is closely monitoring intelligence on this two pronged attack from a variety of sources, including the NYPD and the FBI.  Our department relentlessly works to enhance our preparedness to prevent and respond to these types of incidents.  We have been proactively working with houses of worship of all faiths to enhance their preparedness.  At this time there is no increased specific or credible threat to Suffolk County.  We again request that the public remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to our department.
