Huntington CDA Accepting Applications for Affordable Units at The Seasons at Elwood
The Huntington Community Development Agency announces that it is accepting applications for persons wanting to participate in a March 6 lottery for 20 affordable units at The Seasons at Elwood, an over-55 community under construction on Elwood Road.
The Community Development Agency is administering the lottery for the units, which are split equally between two categories.
Ten of the units will have two bedrooms and one and a half baths, and will be offered to persons making no more than 80 percent of the median income. The sales price for those units will be $221,600; the maximum income to be eligible is $70,912 for a family of one or two.
The other ten units will have two bedrooms and two full baths and will be offered to persons making no more than 120 percent of the median income. The sales price for those units will be $332,400; the maximum income to be eligible is $106,368 for a family of one or two.
In both cases, applicants may not have assets which, after deduction of the down payment and estimated closing costs, exceed 100 percent of the sales price in their respective categories. Additionally, at least one of the applicants must be 55 years of age or older and must occupy the unit as their primary residence.
Persons wanting to be considered for any of the units must complete a lottery intake form. The form, guidelines and a cover letter can all be downloaded from the Town’s website at http://www.huntingtonny.gov/theseasonsatelwood.
The completed form should be mailed to the Huntington Community Development Agency, 100 Main St., Room 309, Huntington, NY 11743. Mark the envelope: Attention: The Seasons at Elwood Lottery.
Those whose lottery number entitles them to further consideration will be asked to complete a formal application and provide standard income and asset documentation.
To be eligible, the form and the $25 entry fee, if mailed, must be postmarked by February 21, 2018, or, if hand delivered, received in the Community Development Agency office by 4 p.m. that day. For questions about the lottery, call Diane Teets, program administrator for the Community Development Agency, at 631-351-2884 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
