Man Arrested for DWI After Motor Vehicle Crash With Two Injured in Melville Crash

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Huntington Station man for driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle crash in Melville Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 6:15 a.m..

Brenten Biber was driving a 2017 Honda Civic westbound on Baylis Road when his vehicle apparently went through a red light at approximately 6:15 a.m. and struck a 2014 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Broadhollow Road. Biber was transported by Melville Fire Department ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Accord, Jay Kim, 61, of East Northport, was transported by Melville Fire Department ambulance to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Biber, 32, of Huntington Station, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned on a later date.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The Melville Fire Department also responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident with a trapped victim on Broadhollow Road and Baylis Road, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at around 6:20 a.m. About 25 Melville firefighters and EMS personnel were dispatched with three ambulances, heavy rescue truck, an engine, first responder, paramedic and fire police units, under the direction of Chief Chris Nolan and First Assistant Chief David Kaplan. Firefighters used heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tools to remove one of the drivers involved who was pinned in the wrecked car. Melville Rescue Squad ambulances transported both patients, one to Nassau University Medical Center and the other to Huntington Hospital.
