Dix Hills Fire Department Battles House Fire on Carll’s Straight Path
Quick action by the Dix Hills Fire Department knocked down a bedroom fire in a home on Carll’s Straight Path on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Firefighters responded to the alarm at 1:06 p.m. and found a fully-involved bedroom fire on the second floor. First arriving crews began an aggressive interior attack on the blaze which was brought under control within 15 minutes. Dix Hills FD was assisted by the Commack, Deer Park and Bethpage FD’s and Commack Ambulance at the scene, with Melville FD providing standby coverage. Sixty firefighters and rescue personnel were on scene with eight trucks, three ambulances and paramedic responders. The homeowner and her two daughters escaped the blaze and were transported to Huntington Hospital with smoke inhalation by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad. The family dog also safely escaped the blaze. The fire was confined to the bedroom with smoke and water damage to the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Huntington Town Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad. Suffolk County Fire Rescue Coordinators were also dispatched to the scene for assistance.
