Blaze On St Andrew’s Drive In Huntington
The Huntington Fire Department responded to an automatic alarm and multiple phone calls from the neighbors reporting heavy smoke in the area on St. Andrews Drive on Friday, August 17, 2018 at about 4:30 p.m. When first due units arrived they encountered heavy smoke throughout the house, and heavy flames in the rear of the home. Firefighters deployed three hose lines in operation to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control within an hour.
Huntington FD was assisted by Halesite, Huntington Manor, Cold Spring Harbor, Centerport, Greenlawn, Dix Hills and Melville FD’s at the scene, and East Northport FD on standby to cover Huntington’s district. EMS crews from the Huntington Community First Aid Squad were also on the scene, and one firefighter was transported to Huntington Hospital for heat exhaustion. About 80 firefighters using 12 trucks were under the command of Second Assistant Chief Scott Dodge, Lieutenant Jason Sandvik and Lieutenant Chris Amendolare. The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
