Interior designers and garden clubs deck the halls of the Vanderbilt Mansion each year, and hundreds of visitors see the results beginning the day after Thanksgiving. The decorators create enchanted rooms with lighted trees, boughs, ornaments, wreaths, ribbons and elegantly wrapped faux gifts.

The Melville Fire Department captured the Best Holiday Float Award at the Huntington Holiday Parade in Huntington Village on Saturday night. Melville’s float was complete with holiday toys and real life cartoon characters. Local fire departments competed in a friendly competition to determine who gets to play Santa Claus in next year’s parade, which will be Melville.
