Long Island Sound-Dolphins

About 50 dolphins near Rocky Point were recorded by an amateur video on August 5th and on August 9th filmed outside Huntington Harbor. Ms. Durham of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation believes they came from New York city into the sound.

It seems by the dates when these sightings were made the the POD was travel east to west. Ms. Durham wants the public to know that these are federally protected marine animals. Please do not enter the water for your safety and the dolphins. If moving towards them she wants you to kill your engine.

She would appreciate if the public sees dolphins that they call her Research Group immediately so they can come observe, record and film them for documentation of the pods. These are wild creatures.

If you spot a dolphin, Ms. Durham asks that you report the sighting by calling (631) 369-9829

The following video filmed outside Huntington Harbor is from here.
