Assemblyman Jim Conte (R,C,I,WF-Huntington Station) today proudly announced the kickoff of his “Caring for Children Holiday Drive.” This holiday season marks the 24th year that Assemblyman Conte has sponsored the donation drive for needy families throughout the district.
“The holidays are about taking a moment to give thanks for our many blessings. They are also about helping those in need by sharing some of our good fortune and giving back to the community,” said Conte. “That is why I am pleased to once again sponsor the Caring for Children Holiday Drive. This wonderful initiative helps to ensure that underprivileged children have a little more cheer and happiness during the holiday season.”
Conte indicated that beginning on November 14 and running through December 16, his Huntington district office – located at 1783 New York Avenue – will once again be collecting infant and toddler items to be distributed to local homeless and domestic violence shelters, as well as church organizations and local families. The assemblyman noted that many new and gently used items are needed, including but not limited to: diapers, playpens, strollers, blankets, baby bottles, baby wipes, baby formula and new unwrapped toys for any age.
Assemblyman Conte’s office is unable to accept used car seats and drop-down cribs.
