“Shed The Meds” Event
Assemblyman Jim Conte (R,I,C,WF-Huntington Station) and Senator Carl Marcellino (R-5th Senate District) are hosting a “Shed the Meds” event on Saturday, November 19 at the Huntington Fire Department, located at 1 Leverich Place, Huntington from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is being supervised by the Suffolk County Police Department and encourages residents to properly dispose of old and out-of-use prescription medicines. Assemblyman Conte noted that safe disposal helps protect the community’s health by keeping medications out of the water supply and keeps kids safe by reducing the number of controlled substances in the community.
“I am encouraging residents from throughout the Huntington area to stop by our Shed the Meds event on November 19 in order to dispose of old and unused prescription drugs,” said Conte. “Prescription-drug abuse is a growing problem on Long Island, and by properly disposing of these medications we can work to keep these drugs out of the wrong hands while helping to protect the environment.”
