Introducing Bedel Saget – HMFD Fire Commissioner Candidate

 Since moving to Huntington six years ago with his wife and two sons, Bedel Saget has demonstrated his passion for community service. His memberships and affiliations include the Huntington Manor Fire Department, Huntington Community First Aid Squad, the N.A.A.C.P. and a host of other local civic groups. He also makes time to coach local youth basketball and mentor in the South Huntington School District with Project Excel.

During his 10-plus years in the Fire Service, Mr. Saget has been a strong advocate for intelligent, effective management, accountability and professionalism. His corporate background, experience in both the EMS and Fire Service, and work as a senior consultant with Inside Management Ltd. (a consulting group that provides customized training to fire districts in the areas of management, leadership and sensitivity) makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the Board of Fire Commissioners. Mr. Saget has first-hand knowledge and insight into the challenges and issues confronting fire districts throughout the state, as well as innovative ways to address and solve these issues. Recognized as leaders in the firematic community, Mr. Saget and Inside Management were recently asked to conduct a workshop at the annual convention of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York, in Ellenville, NY.

The fire commissioners are ultimately responsible for making the important decisions regarding the spending of your tax dollars as it relates to the fire district and the safety and fire protection of the community. For too long, Fire Commissioner elections have gone under the radar and have not been decided by true qualifications. A vote for Mr. Saget is a vote for an experienced, knowledgeable, caring professional with the vision, integrity and resources to make a positive impact on the Board of Fire Commissioners and help guide the district through these tough economic times.
