Harborfields SD – Something To Sing About

The music department of Harborfields High School in the Harborfields Central School District is proud to announce the selection of 62 of its most accomplished student-musicians from grades five through ten to the 2012 Suffolk County Music Educators Association All-County Honors Music Organizations. For a small district like Harborfields, this is an important acknowledgement and speaks highly of its students, music teachers and music program.

Selection to a SCMEA All-County honors performing ensemble is extremely competitive. Thousands of elementary, middle and high school musicians are nominated every year by all schools in the county. Selection is based upon superior scores at the annual NYSSMA solo festivals, in addition to the recommendation of each student’s school music program teacher.

Students selected to SCMEA will rehearse over three days and then perform with their respective All-County performing groups during the month of March 2012 (National Music in Our Schools Month) under the direction of acclaimed guest conductors.

Congratulations are not only extended to these talented students but to their families as well, for providing the support and encouragement over the many years of musical study and determination that it takes to reach this important accomplishment.
