Human Remains Discovered in Commack

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in Commack this morning.

 A man contracted to do tree work in a wooded area near the Indian Head Forest Condo Complex, located off Indian Head Road, discovered what appeared to be human remains at approximately 8 a.m. and called 911. It appears the remains are a male and it is believed the remains have been there for an extended period. A positive identification has not been made.

 The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. At this time, the death does not appear to be criminal.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6394. All calls will be kept confidential.
