Dog Walking Might Deter Criminal Activity In Greenlawn
In an effort to curtail criminal activity in Frazer Drive Park, in Greenlawn, the Huntington Town Board unanimously (5-0) passed a resolution commencing a pilot program of on leash dog walking within the entire park. Currently, and according to town code, dog walking is only allowed on paved parking areas only. The thought is that this type of activity will provide an opportunity to have adults better monitor the park, which, may deter criminal activity. The pilot program will last six-months and based upon an evaluation of the program, it will either be extended or even possibly lead to an amendment of Town Code to expand the program to other town facilities.
The program was approved in response to a petition drive by local residents adjacent to the park.
