The Huntington Manor Fire Department and Huntington Community First Aid Squad were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on New York Avenue behind the Walt Whitman Mall on Sunday afternoon, June 3, at about 2 p.m.

The accident involved an Audi sedan and a Cadillac sports utility vehicle. Firefighters used hydraulic heavy rescue tools to remove the driver’s side door of the Audi to assist with removal of the patient.  Both drivers were transported to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Huntington Community ambulances.  About 25 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with three heavy rescue trucks and fire police, under the command of Huntington Manor FD First Assistant Chief Fred Steenson, Jr.
