Huntington Station Man Arrested For DWI After Hitting Police Car

Suffolk County Police arrested a man today and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated after the driver crashed his vehicle into the police car during the traffic stop. 

Second Precinct Police Officer John Zammillo stopped Mario Moradel, 44, for a traffic violation and as the officer approached the vehicle, Moradel suddenly backed up and crashed into the parked police vehicle. No one was injured in the crash. 

Moradel, of 63 W. 11th St., Huntington Station, was found to be intoxicated. In addition to the DWI charge, Moradel was also charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree after he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine. 

Moradel was arrested and transported to the Second Precinct where he is being held for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip
