Twenty-three Commack employees were recently honored at the twenty-eighth Annual Retirement Awards Ceremony held at Commack High School. In addition, nine Commack Employees were recognized at the Silver Anniversary Testimonial for 25 years of service to the District.
Burr Intermediate School’s long-time, beloved principal of 24 years, Charles N. Heppeler Jr., is retiring in July. Commack’s Director of Science, James Engeldrum, is also retiring after 12 years in the District. Congratulations to retirees: Carol Altschuler, Mary Ellen Candia, Mary Beth Cavanaugh, Mary Cochrane, Arlene Cohn, Barbara Dworkin, Rosemary Elardi, Karen Hanley, Louise Kiley, Lucy Lamorgese, Barbara Langsner, Celia Marmor, Christine McKnight, Karen Menake, Joanna Mera-Krinsky, Jacquelline Preta, Linda Rotoli, Nancy Russo, Joseph Sherman, Barbara Shikarides, and Marianne Sorace.
Honored for twenty-five years of service to our children are: Linda Arinoldo, William Eckert, Susan Glover, Karen Hanley, John Kelly, Nancy Neibloom, James Palermo, Charles Witcomb, and Cindy Zambito.
Paul Infante was an entertaining Master of Ceremonies, and speeches were made for each honoree. Personnel Department staff staged the event, providing refreshments and taking care of every detail. Students from the Commack High School String Quintet and the Commack High School Jazz Messengers played beatifully, making it a truly wonderful event for all in attendance.
