On August 27th, construction activities were occurring in front of 1000 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, the site of the future pedestrian Plaza area. As the photograph’s show, construction machinery, barriers and cones are in place and removal of asphalt and other roadway material is taking place.  The construction area is on the New York Avenue Right-of-Way, which, was until recently owned by the State of New York. We have sent email correspondence to the Town’s Public Information Officer, A.J. Carter for more detailed information regarding the project activities.  Mr. Carter Stated that “Site preparation has begun for construction of the plaza in front of 1000 New York Avenue.  The main contractor on the project is Laser Industries. The project should be complete in about 60 days. “

  1. What I want to know is if the tenants of the pawn shop and the auto part store was apprised of this before they moved in. They will no longer have on street parking, as the street is being taken away….

  2. We need a town spokesperson to tell us that site preparation started on an pavillon in front of a pawn shop and auto parts store? Seriously? Why not get rid of the spokesperson postion and donate the funds to a credible group that is helping fix the problem? Better yet give it to the Huntington school district. THis town has eroded the school’s tax base – why not take a step to pay back the district.
