On August 24, Commissioner John King of the New York State Education Department notified Superintendent of Schools Diana Todaro of the Harborfields Central School District that the Annual Professional Performance Review plan submitted to the state had been approved. The plan, developed by the members of the district’s APPR committee comprised of K-12 teachers and administrators, met the necessary criteria as outlined in section 3012-c of Educational Law.
The APPR regulation requires districts to annually evaluate the performance of teachers and administrators, resulting in a score determining effectiveness. The scores are based on a variety of factors, including student growth on state assessments as well as locally selected measures of student achievement.
The New York State Education Department set a July 1 deadline for the submission of APPR plans, which Harborfields committee members worked diligently to meet.
