Update: Hit and Run Crash Victim Has Died of His Injuries

The man who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash that occurred at the corner of Route 25 and Thorney Avenue in Huntington Station on September 3 has died of his injuries. The victim has not been positively identified. The investigation is continuing.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured an unidentified man.

The victim was walking in the westbound lane of Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station last night at 10:36 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle in front of the 7-Eleven Store at the corner of Route 25 and Thorney Avenue.

The victim was dragged for about 500 feet before being dislodged from the vehicle in front of the Walt Whitman Motor Lodge. The driver of the vehicle left the scene. The victim was transported via Huntington Community Rescue to Huntington Hospital in Huntington where he is in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

Second Squad Detectives request anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-854-8252 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. The investigation is continuing.
