Event: The Media and Child Health: Reclaiming Childhood from a River of Electronic Screens, with Dr. Michael Rich, MD, MPH
Huntington Public Library
338 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743
Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 pm
Description: Today’s children are growing up in a world transformed by interactive media. As parents and others who care for children, how can we tell if these media are helping or hurting them? How can we make sure that their media environment supports their health and development?
Dr. Michael Rich, a pediatrician and former Hollywood filmmaker, is the world’s first Mediatrician! He is uniquely qualified to discuss media’s powerful effect on child development, health, and behavior. Paying particular attention to TV, movies, music, and video games, he uses scientific evidence to advise young people and those who care for them.
Dr. Rich is Director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children’s Hospital, Boston, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health.
