Don McKay Gearing Up For Highway Race?

It appears that Town Recreation and Parks Commissioner, Don Mckay is gearing up to run for Town of Huntington Superintendent of Highways.

According to the New York State Board of Elections website, McKay has opened a “Friends of Don McKay” Campaign account and the position listed is Highway Superintendent.  McKay has started a Facebook Page called McKay For Highway. As of October 6th,  Councilman Mark Cuthbertson is one of three people who “like” his Facebook page.

Don McKay is a democrat. The present Highway Superintendent, William Naughton is also a democrat who has typically received the democratic nomination in the past as well as a series of cross endorsements. McKay’s involvement suggests a democratic primary is in the making.

After Petrone’s recent attempt failed to make the Highway position an appointed one, there was speculation that Don McKay would primary William Naughton who is up for reelection November 2013.

  1. Whether it be Mr. McKay or any other candidate, I’m happy to see interest in challenging an incumbant. Change is good, cross endorsement is the death of democracy and no one person (and I like Mr. Naughton) should hold a position for life. This position should have been converted to appointed or term limited.

  2. Isn’t this the guy that held the town hall doors shut when that older gentleman Mr Caruso got beat up by the cops at town hall under Mr Petrones orders? It caused the mans hearing aide and glasses to be damaged when he was slammed into the doors held closed by Mr McKay.

  3. If the Highway Supt position is to be term limited, then the receiver of taxes, all 4 Town Council members and especially the Town Supt. should be also. No excuses.

No. Nowhere is it stated that Don McKay is the man who held doors shut and damaged some mans glasses and hearing aide…if your going to make accusations at least know who the hell your talking about so you don’t sound like your trying to pass off YOUR personal opinion (which I don’t even understand how you’d think that, maybe your glasses were the ones that were damaged) off as facts.
