This week, throughout South Huntington Schools, spirits are high as students prepare for their annual homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 20. This year will celebrate the biannual Hall of Fame induction as part of the district’s celebration. Spirit week is an especially fun time for students with each day highlighting a different theme. On Saturday the real festivities begin with distinguished Walt Whitman alumni, family, friends, and special guests enjoying a breakfast in which they will be honored. At 11 AM the Hall of Fame celebration moves to the football field where the alumni will be officially inducted into the ‘Hall’ just prior to climbing on a float in their honor as the big Homecoming parade begins at 11:30 AM. A special tailgate party will be held in their honor at 1 PM and the coin toss will start the 2 PM football game when the Whitman Wildcats take on Centereach. Hall of Fame alumni being inducted this year will be: Shirley Chaikin Mayer-Class of 1968, Laura Carino-Schroff-Class of 1970, Daniel Levin-Class of 1973, Stuart Udell-Class of 1985, Andy Farber-Class of 1987, Rolando George-Class of 1989, Michael McGuinness-Class of 1990, and A.J.
