Art Show At RIPE Art Gallery

Ripe Art Gallery is pleased to present self taught painter Jim Kogel.  A Centerport resident, Kogel works with Renaissance images of women painted on pages from the New York Times mounted onto canvas. This most recent series features traditional renaissance Madonnas, as well as vintage images of famous ballerinas. Kogel became interested in painting in college, where he took a few drawing classes in between his program in Civil Engineering, with additional art instruction from friends, observation, and a few friendly teachers.

This show will open on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2-5PM with the artist present to greet his guests and discuss his work.  50% of all sales will be donated amongst The Long Island Fund for Women and Girls, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs- Parish Social Ministry, and the Family Service League of Long Island. Kogel’s work will be on display through February 6, 2013.
