Third-grade students of James H. Boyd Intermediate School in the Elwood Union Free School District enjoyed a visit from professional arts educator and storyteller Tom Lee. Mr. Lee spent time with the students exploring the elements of storytelling, such as pattern, rhythm and repetition.

Throughout the interactive program, which aligns itself with the Common Core Learning Standards used in their daily classroom lessons, the students were able to explore wise choices and the dilemmas of compelling problems as they visualized the story Mr. Lee shared with them.

The children sat captivated with his tale of “The Troll Witch and the Bear.” Students hung on his every word, listening for the elements they had discussed in hopes of making a new connection that would offer another clue to the story.
