Young Boy Found Dead In Apartment

On Wednesday, January 16, The Village of Amityville Police Department received a 911 call at 3:49 p.m. The caller indicated that an ambulance was required for a small boy at an apartment at 89 Ketcham Avenue in Amityville. When police arrived, they discovered a young boy lying unconscious on a couch in the living room. No adults were present in the apartment.

The boy, who is believed to be about 4 years old, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. He was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m. The child was then taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed on Friday morning.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death of this boy.
