The Huntington Chamber of Commerce is proud to present a Water Safety/Water Smart Seminar in partnership with Saf-T-Swim and the Long Island Drowning Prevention Task Force.
Everyone needs to learn to love and respect the water and educating parents and caregivers about proper water safety is so important. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each day approximately 10 people die from unintentional drowning which makes it the fifth leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States. For every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency care for nonfatal submersion injuries. Knowledge is crucial to avoid an emergency.
April is Drowning Prevention month. Summer will soon be here and whether you or your family has a backyard pool or you venture out to the beach, there are several things you should know to keep everyone safe. This important and timely seminar will provide tips about proper water safety and provide vital information and preventive measures which can be taken to avoid an accident. Your involvement is the most important factor in helping prevent, prepare for and cope with water emergencies.
Water Safety/Water Smart Seminar will take place on Wednesday evening,
April 3rd at Mac’s Steakhouse, 12 Gerard Street in Huntington Village from 7 to 8:30pm and will provide information on what everyone needs to know to help reduce the risk associated with drowning injuries. Refreshments will be served and the cost is $5 per person. Please RSVP to Linda@huntingtonchamber.com or call 631 423-6100 to register.
