Assemblyman Andrew Raia announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is currently accepting applications from local students who are interested in pursuing a higher degree of education. The deadline for submitting this year’s applications is Friday, May 3 and winners will be awarded their scholarships in June at the group’s annual conference.
The Conference of Italian-American State Legislators will be awarding one academic, and one athletic scholarship of $1,500. The scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Eligibility is based upon a student’s grade-point average, desire to further their education, involvement in local community and financial need.
“Long Island’s hard-working students face overwhelming financial costs to pursue an education. It’s incredibly important that we continue to assist them by providing these scholarship opportunities,” said Raia. “I want to thank my colleagues in the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators for joining me in making such a commitment to furthering students’ access to higher education.”
Applications can be obtained by contacting Raia’s district office at 631-261-4151 or by visiting the office at 75 Woodbine Ave, Second floor, Northport, NY. Please mail or hand deliver applications to the district office at Woodbine Ave.
