There is still a chance to see this outstanding performance – Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 or 7:30.
District resident Nancy DiGiacomo stated, “Just saw The Sound of Music at the High School. I was Blown away. It was terrific – Maria and all the Von Trapp ‘kids’ were unbelievable…the whole cast. And what I found to be the most amazing part – that they had live music including both an orchestra/band. WOW!!!!. She continued, “You can not imagine how much talent this district has. If you can go, I would highly recommend going. By the way – I do NOT have a child in the play or the high school for that matter. Just sooo good I had to share”.
The show is being held at Huntington High School, located at Oakwood & McKay Road in Huntington on Friday, April 12 & Saturday April 13 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m.
The show stars Katherine Gerdes, Chelsea Holmes, Stephanie Shea, Anna Schiffmacher, Laura Ironman, Josh Morris, Zach Burden and Anna Wertheim and a full cast of interesting characters that all contribute a certain something special to the musical. There are top-notch musicians in the orchestra pit, too.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The 1959 musical was made into a movie in 1965 starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
Huntington High School English teacher Michael Schwendemann is the drama club’s faculty advisor. He has done plenty of acting himself and is known as a perfectionist.
Tickets will be available at the door for $10. Senior citizens, staff members and students with an ID card can purchase tickets for $5. Call (631) 673-2106 for more information.
