Four People Arrested for Selling Alcohol to a Minor

Suffolk County Police arrested four people after they sold alcohol to a minor at several businesses in the Town of Huntington last evening.

Second Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an underage alcohol sting operation at four businesses and all four were found to be in violation. A volunteer younger than 21 years old, acting as an agent with the Suffolk County Police Department, entered four businesses with the intent to purchase alcohol. Some of the stores chosen were in response to community complaints while others were randomly selected.

The following people were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree for selling alcohol to a minor:

  • Jose Rodriguez, 61, employed by Brothers Deli, 243 Broadway, Greenlawn
  • Naseem Mohammed, 30, employed by One Stop Deli, 223 Broadway, Greenlawn
  • Harish Suthar, 30, employed by 110 Convenience, 215 Route 110, Huntington Station
  • Jose Alveraz, 45, employed by El Triunfo, 1789 New York Ave., Huntington Station

Rodriguez, Mohammed, Suthar and Alveraz were each issued a Field Appearance Ticket and will appear at First District Court in Central Islip on July 18.

The operation was part of an ongoing effort by the Suffolk County Police Department to ensure compliance of laws pertaining to the sale of alcohol.
