It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of a tragic automobile accident last night that took the lives of recent graduate Ray Vega and current Huntington High School student Carmen Rivera-Gotay. Words will provide little solace following such an unthinkable loss, but I ask that you keep the families of both of these young people in your minds and hearts.
Importantly, we will have grief counselors on hand at Huntington High School during the week upcoming – on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. I strongly encourage those in need to take advantage of the support provided during this difficult time.
We are awaiting information on arrangements. As soon as I receive, I will share them in a subsequent communication.
Again, we express our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ray and Carmen.
Jim Polansky
Superintendent of Huntington Schools
