Arrest Made In Hit and Run That Killed Bicyclist

Albert Dibernardo, 28, of Randi Court, Melville, has been identified as the driver that struck and killed a bicyclist in Dix Hills this morning.  Dibernardo, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting Involving a Fatality.  He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 3.

Ricardo Fernandez, 44, of Jeatom Lane, Amityville, has been identified as the bicyclist that was struck and killed in Dix Hills this morning.

A passing motorist observed a body on the side of Express Drive North, ¼ mile east of Burrs Lane, at approximately 10:05 a.m. and called 911. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male bicyclist dead off the side of the road. It is unknown what time the crash occurred.
