ElwoodStudents at both Harley Avenue Primary School and James H. Boyd Intermediate School attended “Make a Good Choice” character education assemblies led by actor, singer and storyteller Lou Del Bianco. During his presentation to students at both schools, Del Bianco gave the audience an inside look at his childhood years which included original songs and dances about his childhood pet, youth baseball team, what it was like growing up with six sisters and more.

Students learned about important concepts such as responsibility, tolerance, perseverance and bullying through Del Bianco’s relatable and entertaining stories, which also incorporated audience participation. “When I am talking about the choices that I made, I want you to think about what choice you would make if you were me or any of the people in my stories,” he said.

Del Bianco’s funny and enjoyable anecdotes reinforced with students ways to make great decisions that positively impact daily interactions at school, home and with friends and family. “It’s up to you to know what to do, to know what’s wrong and what’s wrong,” said Del Bianco. “Be strong and make the right decision.”
