Huntington Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia recently addressed the Rotary Club of Huntington’s weekly meeting. Ms. Raia outlined the various functions of the Town Clerk’s Department and brought numerous handouts as examples of the various licenses and permits issued by the office. Ms. Raia also spoke about some of the historic manuscripts and books which are housed in the climate-controlled Town Clerk’s Archives.
“The highlight of my presentations are always the displays of some original documents, i.e. the 1653 Native American Deed, the Revolutionary War Claims, the book of Court Records from 1659 and the book of Births, Deaths and Marriages from 1847” stated Ms. Raia. “ It has been a privilege and an honor for me to speak to various organizations about the responsibilities of my office.”
