CALLING FOR ENTREPRENEURS: Shared Retail Space Coming to Huntington Station!

Huntington Station, New York – Are you a budding retail entrepreneur? Do you run a retail business from home with a unique product and would like to expand? Are you considering opening a retail business in Huntington Station? Then we have an opportunity for you!

For over a year now, Source the Station has immersed itself in the Huntington Station community and we’ve been listening to your ideas! To that end, we are working to bring to life the community-initiated idea of developing a “Pop-up Shared Retail Space” in Huntington Station. To continue this work we need the continued support of the whole community to make it happen!

Originated by Shopify, Popify was an experimental pop-up space that gave online retailers a taste of selling in a physical space for a limited amount of time. In Huntington Station, Source the Station would like to initiate a Holiday Pop-up shared retail space, with hopes of developing it into a long-term shared space. A shared storefront can be a place where local retail-oriented entrepreneurs can get a feel for what it’s like to have a physical retail space, test the local market and receive input before committing to a full sized store. It is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop their product line, hone their business skills, develop their business model and experiment in a low-risk environment in order to improve their ability to be a sustainable long-term business.

Eleanor Cawley, a Huntington Station resident and active Source the Station participant posted the “Popify” idea on our site and says “There are book authors, jewelry makers, artists, etc. that could use a opportunity to market their products and to begin developing a following of customers.  Many of these home-based entrepreneurs, need a local space to get started and eventually move into a brick and mortar location.” We want to bring these local entrepreneurs to the forefront of the Huntington Station business community and incorporate them into the revitalization of downtown Huntington Station.
