The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to an early morning crash on Wolf Hill Road near Winthrop Drive, Sunday, November 24, at about 4:10 a.m. The driver of a Toyota Camry was trapped after the vehicle struck and split a utility pole and then slammed into a tree. Firefighters used heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tools to remove both driver’s side-doors and the B-Post to free the victim. The female driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad. About 20 volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched with three heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances, first responder and paramedic units, under the command of Chief Tom Magno, and Assistant Chiefs Rob Fling and Tom Napolitano.
