Most people know David Lynch through his dreamy, nonlinear films (Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Inland Empire) and television series (Twin Peaks) but underlying it all, the root of his creative thought is Transcendental Meditation, to which Lynch has been devoted since the early 1970s. With equal parts wit and passion, Meditation Creativity Peace, shows the director’s commitment to TM and offers rare insight into Lynch’s creative process, through interviews and revealing moments from the tour.

“This is a donut. It is very sweet, and very good. But if you’ve never tasted a donut, you wouldn’t really know how sweet and how good a donut is… Transcendental Meditation is like that. Transcendental Meditation gives an experience much sweeter than the sweetness of this donut. It gives the experience of the sweetest nectar of life, pure bliss consciousness.” – David Lynch

Michel Petrucciani (28 December 1962, Orange, VaucluseFrance – 6 January 1999, New York City, USA) was a French jazz pianist. Afflicted from birth with osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disease that causes brittle bones and, in his case, short stature, he became one of the most accomplished jazz pianists of his generation, despite having arms which caused him pain.

Pianism is a jazz album by Michel Petrucciani. The Trio will be playing some of these selections from this and other recordings of M.P. The album was recorded at RCA Studio “C”, and was produced by Mike Berniker, engineer Mike Moran. The Blue Note catalogue number is CDP 7 46295 2. This was Petrucciani’s first album recorded under contract for Blue Note, the previous recordings having originally been released by Concord and others (though some were subsequently reissued by Blue Note).
