Fifth-grade students at James H. Boyd Intermediate School in the Elwood Union Free School District read “Running Out of Time” and created websites about the characters and story. The students used Google Sites to create the websites and integrated book reviews, games, quizzes, summaries and character portraits into the sites. The students then created QR codes for their websites so they could be shared with the public.
The QR codes are on display at the Elwood Public Library’s children’s section. Patrons with a smart phone or tablet can use a QR code-scanning app to scan the codes and access the students’ websites.
