Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci is encouraging local high school seniors to apply for the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators’ Scholarship program. The conference offers four scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000 to support students who excel both in the classroom and in athletic competition. This year, the two athletic scholarships will be awarded in the name of former Sen. John J. Marchi and the two academic scholarships will be awarded in the name of former Assemblyman James D. Conte.
“As an educator, helping to better the education system for our local students is of the utmost importance to me,” said Lupinacci. “As a proud Italian-American legislator, having the opportunity to celebrate my heritage by offering someone a better education is tremendously rewarding. This year, it is especially humbling as the two academic scholarships are in the name of my friend and predecessor, James D. Conte. I want to thank my colleagues in the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators for joining me in honoring Jim by making such a profound commitment to furthering students’ access to higher education.”
The Conference of Italian-American State Legislators will be awarding two academic and two athletic scholarships of $2,000. The scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Eligibility is based upon a student’s grade-point average, desire to further their education, involvement in their local community and financial need.
For additional information or to obtain a copy of the application, please contact Lupinacci’s district office at (631) 271-8025.
